SUMMARY:OKLAHOMA! matinee
DESCRIPTION:This is OKLAHOMA! as you’ve never seen or heard it before—reimagined for the 21st century and the Tony Award Winner for Best Revival of a Musical. \nDirect from an acclaimed run on Broadway comes an OKLAHOMA! that looks and sounds like America today. The Daily Beast raves “Forget your traditional idea of Oklahoma! Daniel Fish’s daring\, brilliant\, utterly absorbing re-interpretation is different—brilliantly so.” \nOKLAHOMA! tells a story of a community banding together against an outsider\, and the frontier life that shaped America. Upending the sunny romance of a farmer and a cowpoke\, this production “lets us experience Rodgers and Hammerstein’s greatness anew.” (The New Yorker). Without changing a word of text\, this visionary production allows the classic musical – and our country – to be seen in a whole new light. \nFunny and sexy\, inviting and illuminating\, “A smashing Oklahoma! is reborn. Daniel Fish’s wide-awake\, altogether wonderful production is thrilling!” (The New York Times). \n“This is the OKLAHOMA! that was there all along.” (New York Magazine).

SUMMARY:author signing with Brian Power
DESCRIPTION:Savoy Bookshop & Café presents an author signing with Brian Power for the book\, A Chance to Serve. Books will be available for purchase during the signing. \nAbout the Book\nLt. Col. Power vividly recalls a wide range of experiences from Boot Camp at Parris Island\, SC; to infantry training at Camp LeJeune\, NC; to Officer training at Quantico\, VA. He gives us the pros and the cons from his tour as a young lieutenant in Japan\, to his Reserve experiences as a junior infantry officer\, to his recall to Active Duty to attend the prestigious Naval War College in Newport\, RI\, to his final tour at the Pentagon where he again had been recalled to Active Duty for Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. His reminiscences over more than a quarter-century of both Active and Reserve service in the Marine Corps reflect and magnify the core values (Honor\, Courage\, Commitment) that the Marines are taught (and you will be exposed to a few who do not always practice them). As Lt.Col. Power grew in his career he met remarkable people\, was supported with outstanding loyalty from his troops\, took part in significant events\, and had his heart filled with acomplishment and broken by duplicity. But his love for the Corps remained intact.Power weaves an engrossing tale of intriguing characters coupled with military events and highlighted by his sometimes joyous and hilarious experiences. It’s a good read.Lt. Col. Power retired from the Marine Corps Reserve in 1993. He began his writing career after retiring from a consulting and training business he started. You can find out more about his first book\, Song of Atlantis at songofatlantis.com. Mr. Power and his wife live in Rhode Island. \nAbout the Author\nLt. Col. SUMMARY:Whodunit? An Improvised Murder Mystery
DESCRIPTION:Whodunit? An Improvised Murder Mystery\nSaturdays\, February 19 – April 2\, April 8 – 9 at 7 pm \nClassic whodunits with a twist: it’s all improvised! Our actors weave webs of secrets\, deception\, and mystery as we wind our way through a different murder each week. \nThree friends rush to get to their chalet before a blizzard sets in. As they arrive at the secluded destination\, they realize the residence has been double-booked when they find three people asleep in their beds. With the storm fast approaching and deteriorating conditions\, the groups have no choice but to share the space. But as they hunker down for the night\, they soon realize the storm is not the only thing they need to fear. When the morning sun brings to light the murder of a guest\, they find there are more questions than answers. Are they all really suspects\, or are they convenient scapegoats for the real killer\, who’s still free and walking among them? You’ll have to come to find out!
